"Alan Wake 2" looks to be Remedy Entertainment's next masterpiece, a survival horror game with the latest in graphics technology. Naturally, the hardware requirements are quite demanding, so if you want to get a new gaming PC that meets them all, this campaign is perfect for you.
Starting with the CPU, the Ryzen 7 7700X is extremely powerful and shines in games, with eight cores and a boost clock of 5.1 GHz, it can handle a lot of productivity and content creation tasks.
Dual-channel RAM is required to get the most out of AMD's processors, and this PC uses two 16GB DDR5-5200s; not the fastest memory for the 7700X, but 32GB total is plenty for current gaming.
The most powerful component on this PC is the GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card, which is currently the second most powerful GPU in Nvidia's Ada Lovelace series, as it fully supports DLSS 3.5 and FSR 3, covers any game that uses upscaling or frame generation.
A 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD will suffice for your gaming storage needs, but I wouldn't bother with a 2TB HDD for anything other than storing photos and small video files. Personally, I would replace it with a cheap, high-capacity SSD and keep all my games on that drive.
It is unfortunate that the Slate 5 only comes with an 800W power supply unit. While this is adequate for this CPU/GPU combination, you may need to replace the PSU with a higher-powered one if you want to upgrade components in the future.
This depends on whether the new parts use more power than the Ryzen 7 7700X and RTX 4080.
One final treat for this PC is that it also comes with a free promotional copy of Alan Wake 2!
