Final Fantasy 14's bizarre "Fall Guys" event will take place later this month.

The "Final Fantasy 14 x Fall Guys" has been rumored for some time, and the details of the event have just been announced on the official website.

I am deeply conflicted about this; while I am familiar with the FF14 crossover,

there was also a "Nier Automata"-only raid series. Aceris and its shards already include an ancient Allergan test tube, a spaceship, a dragon that is an alien, and a VR battle against a train.

But this... It's just the Fall Guys. There are only occasional chocobo signs and not much attempt to make it a Final Fantasy. The event rewards are flashy, and I actually kind of like them, with the exception of the knit hat. Imagine someone wearing a hat that looks like half a human torso. Even if it were made of wool, it would still be quite alarming.

Still, this event sounds like fun and the rewards are actually substantial. Aside from the Gentle Bean set and crown mentioned above, you get mounts, cute emotes, minions, housing items, framer's kits, and, wait for it, dyes. As of this writing, they are going for around 24,000 gil a piece on my server, but they used to go for 50,000 gil a piece. This is not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things (endgame crafted equipment goes for 200,000 a piece), but with a little effort you can get a chunk of crash every week.

This depends entirely on how much MGF (Manderville Gold Saucer Fame) you can earn per play. A full set of Gentle Bean Swag (either a crown or a horrible, horrible, no-good Deadfall Guy hat) would be 1,640 MGF. Gunmetal Black and Pearl White dyes, on the other hand, are about 750 each; the equally well-selling Dragoon Blue dye is a more affordable 150.

Certainly not the best way to make money. But I am allergic to crafting, despite having all my crafting jobs at 90. I don't mind sending my Warrior of Light to the Fall Guys dimension a few dozen times. But first, let's get the cursed hat. I hate it, but it's mine

You can play this limited-time event from October 31 through December 31. When the event begins, you must go to Urda and take the quest "It Could Happen To You." From there, the journey to the bean field begins.
