If you're looking for a way to scratch that new Baldur's Gate 3 itch and somehow make it to London next May, the recently announced Symphony of the Realms concert is worth knowing about.Composed by Borislav Slavov, the game soundtrack will be performed live in concert for the first time on May 4, 2024 at the Royal Festival Hall in London's Southbank Centre.
"Be mesmerized by the enchanting music" and "You definitely need to be there," the announcement reads like a pun on a game music festival.
The soundtrack will be performed by the Philharmoina Orchestra and the Hertfordshire Choral Society, with Robert Kurdivacha as conductor. The show is part of the 2024 Game Music Festival, which also includes a Last of Us concert.
The Southbank Center website calls the BG3 event "an evening of ballads and minstrelsy." For the first time, enjoy a live concert orchestration of Slavov's work. It's not surprising to see the soundtracks of such beloved games take the stage; even Stardew Valley has its own international concert tour." [The thought of hearing the main theme alone from "Baldur's Gate 3" live in a concert hall, with its ominous vocals, swirling timpani and brass instruments, is a thrill. The Elder Brain and The Legacy of Baal should also be quite spectacular to hear in person. The combination of the Hertfordshire Chorus and Slavov's use of vocals throughout the OST will deliver something unforgettable.
The show is Saturday, May 4, at 7 p.m. and lasts approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Tickets can be reserved through the Southbank Center website.
