This SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC headset may be a bit dated, but it's a steal at under $155.

SteelSeries hasn't lost a step in gaming headsets for some time now, earning quite a reputation among gamers for its solid build quality, great sounding drivers, and excellent microphones. But the Arctis Pro + GameDAC has a few tricks up its sleeve that make it stand out even among its siblings, and given that it is currently on discount for $152 on Amazon, it seems worth a look.

Simply put, this is still one of the best sounding gaming headsets money can buy, as we discovered when we reviewed the Arctis Pro + GameDAC in 2018. This supreme audio performance was achieved by adding a dedicated DAC and amplifier to the signal chain, making it the first headset to feature a certified high-resolution audio system with DTS Headphone.X surround sound at the time: X surround sound.

Many things may have changed over the years, but one thing that hasn't is the simply gorgeous soundscape that this feature provides. Whether you're gaming or listening to music, SteelSeries still stands head and shoulders above most of its competitors when it comes to sound quality.

Not only does this headset have luscious musical tones and excellent accuracy, but it also features one of the best microphones we've heard on a gaming headset, the legendary ClearCast two-way system. The boom tucks neatly into the frame when not in use and delivers a beautifully crisp level of enunciation that is sure to stand out on your next Discord call. The headband is extremely comfortable, and the internal material is what SteelSeries calls "ski goggle fabric," which has a soft yet supportive feel to the head.

The RGB lighting has a faint glowing ring around each ear cup (imagine that!) ), the whole thing feels like premium gear with a sense of security; the screen on the dedicated GameDAC box is also OLED, and everything is controlled by a solid, easy-to-use rubber dial.

Next time you buy a headset, you may be tempted to opt for the latest generation of expensive wireless models, but the SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC proves that sometimes it's a good idea to stick with the classics. The headset is still an excellent design, and if you don't mind a wired solution, you'll be happy with the excellent audio quality. At $152 for such great sound quality, it's a great price and well worth considering if sound is your primary concern.
