The Elder Scrolls Online is free on Epic.

The Elder Scrolls Online is free on EGS through July 27. Also check back next week at the same time for the free RTS royalty Homeworld Remastered Collection and the stylish FPS Severed Steel.

It's safe to say that TESO did not come out fully formed when it was first released. The first few months were rough, but over time TESO improved considerably and became, as MJ Guthrie puts it, "a rich world that ties together many aspects of the Elder Scrolls universe." It steadily grew in popularity as Bethesda laid the groundwork, and now incorporates great versions of the single-player title's locations, including Morrowind, and has a healthy player base.

To be clear, the free version of TESO is the base game, which means it will receive updates and improvements over the years, but if you want to play the expanded version, you will have to pay. But you don't have to do that to enjoy hundreds of hours of fun.

As for Murder by Numbers, it's a very fun series of Picross-style puzzles. The characters and storyline have a fun 80's TV detective vibe to them, and the only downside is that it gets a little boring towards the end of the game. However, if there was ever a game made for Steam Deck, this is it.

Not only are there extras, but the EGS summer sale is going on now through August 6. While there are plenty of the usual bargains on offer, it is worth noting that Epic's rewards scheme has been temporarily doubled, giving 10% of the purchase price back in the form of a store credit. Here's the full list of summer discounts, but if you haven't gotten your hands on it yet, your best bet is definitely the supreme "Disco Elysium: The Final Cut" for $10.
