Earlier this week, a mini-documentary was released from Japan dealing with the life and work of Naoki Yoshida (aka Yoshi P) and his time working on Final Fantasy 16. You may not be able to watch the documentary in your country yet, but courtesy of Aitai Kimochi on Twitter, some of Yoshi P's thoughts have been translated:

"There are so many people who just yell, people I've never seen, met or talked to. It's disgusting. What have we done to them?' Perhaps they are just writing from a negative and malicious place. It's disgusting."

A thread on the Final Fantasy 14 subreddit also went into some of the comments displayed in the documentary translated by user elevenmile: "He saw the comments the documentary displayed on the screen [for example] " Eikonic Battles is very [boring] looking' and 'I still won't buy [the only Final Fantasy] the first day. To protect myself'." [Especially in a series as diverse as Final Fantasy and constantly changing with each sequel. Its design has moved from turn-based combat to the gambit system of 12 to today's epic action RPGs.

This is one of the best things about Final Fantasy. It also means that disgruntled, overzealous fans are constantly snarling about how the next game is "changing too much" and "ruining the series." PC Gamer's Mollie Taylor loves this game so much, she's going to make a 15, 13, 12, or ...... As you can tell, I think we're in good hands until the next one completely sinks this franchise.

I know we should feel free to talk about why we don't like the game, but I'm not shocked that Yoshi P is a little fed up with the toxic elements of his fanbase. While it's best not to trust overly personal comments made by strangers who don't know you, sometimes you just can't turn away.
