The Little Big Adventure reboot was cancelled due to lack of interest from publishers.

The reboot of the mid-90s cult classic "Little Big Adventure," which was announced in early 2022, has been canceled. According to Ben Limare, CEO of developer 2.21, the game was canceled because the studio was unable to sign a publishing deal for a new game.

According to Limare, the studio was unable to find a publisher for three main reasons: a general lack of interest in stand-alone action-adventure games, the cost of maintaining a relatively large development team, and Twinsen's rabid With apologies to fans, the simple fact is that Little Big Adventure is not a widely recognized brand.

As a result, 2.21 has "ceased production of the reboot and the project is considered abandoned for the foreseeable future." The studio will instead focus on a remastered version of "Twinsen's Little Big Adventure," also in development. The game, too, does not have a publisher lined up, but Limare said the project should be more attractive to potential partners because of its "significantly lower cost. "2.21 is also looking at self-publishing, but Limare said that Patreon or another studio He stated that additional funding would be required if they were to take that route, such as a partnership.

Unfortunately, the end of the reboot means layoffs: Limare did not specify the number of people, but confirmed that they are "reducing the size of the team." Despite this, he said he is feeling pretty upbeat about the whole thing because the TBLA Remastered playtest, which runs from July 5 through the end of the month, has been well received. [We are very appreciative of the 4,000 participants and the 2,000 detailed feedback forms. 'Thirty-three percent of the participants scored a 9 or 10 on the scale, and 80 percent scored 7 or higher. We are excited to improve and grow from this constructive feedback."

"The future of Twinsen depends largely on the next few weeks. Rest assured, we are committed to turning the tide."

Limare also said that ideas for a reboot could be incorporated into the remastered version.
