Nicki Minaj is the next operator of Call of Duty

One of the fun things about doing this job is that sometimes you get to write something you never thought you'd write. Today is one of those days: in honor of Hip Hop's 50th anniversary, Nicki Minaj will appear in "Call of Duty: Warzone" and "Modern Warfare."

"This is not 'Chill Nicki. This is Red Ruby Da Sleeze." [Minaj will be the "first ever self-proclaimed female operator" in Call of Duty and will appear in the game along with her own Store Bundle. Activision has confirmed that Minaj has voiced the operator, and while specific bundle contents and pricing have not been announced, they will be "comparable to other licensed bundles." [Minaj isn't the only one celebrating hip-hop's Big 5. In Season 5, Snoop Dogg and, in a mid-season update, 21 Savage will also take up arms on the digital battlefield. The update adds a number of free hip-hop "war tracks" (basically music that plays while you're on a vehicle) to log in between August 7 and 16. During this period, you must log in to Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 for four days: the first three days you will get songs from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, and on the fourth day you will get special weapon blueprints that can be used in any online mode.

Season 5 will also add four new maps and three new game modes to Modern Warfare 2, two new vehicles (MRAP and dirt bike) to Warzone, new weapons and operator skins, and other new content. More details can be found at callofduty.com.
