It is quite astonishing to see how much the price of SSDs has dropped over the past year or so. In an economy where cost-effective products are hard to find, a high-performance WD SN770 for only $43.20 is very attractive. At this price, there is basically no reason to buy a drive under 1TB anymore. In fact, the 500GB SN770 costs $35, so doubling the capacity by adding $8.20 is a no-brainer.
With pesky games like Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield coming soon, the additional capacity to store them is welcome. Plus, it's cheaper than the price of the game itself, so what can we say?
The SN770 is one of our picks for the best budget gaming SSDs. When it comes to gaming, sequential transfer speeds are not as important as is often claimed, and the SN770 1TB has a transfer rate of 5,150 MB/sec read and 4,900 MB/sec write. 740K reads/sec write operations per second is fast enough to minimize game load times and level transitions. This speed is sufficient to keep game load times and level transitions to a minimum.

The SN770 is not the only SSD to fall in recent months. There are plenty of cheap SSDs to consider, including top-performing Windows drives, cheap ones for digital media storage, and ones for the Asus ROG Ally.
If the 1TB SN770 isn't enough capacity, consider the 2TB version of the SN770 for $94 on Amazon; 2 x 1TB drives are still more cost-effective, but 2 x 2TB drives sound even better, right?
