Not sure what the problem was on Reddit, but it has now been fixed (updated)

Update (3:10 PM PT): and as such, Reddit is back. It's still not clear exactly what happened, but Reddit announced just before 3 p.m. PT that it had implemented a fix; Reddit says it is monitoring the situation to make sure everything is okay, and from my own cursory glance at the site, everything seems to be in order.

Original story here:

Don't worry if you can't load any pages on Reddit: Reddit is reporting a major outage affecting both desktop and mobile sites.

Downdetector is also reporting a massive spike in user reports indicating that something, somewhere is very wrong.

It is unclear at this time what the problem is, but it may be related to Reddit's account system. The page seems to load fine when logged out or accessed in an incognito window.

Reddit acknowledges the issue, stating at 1:58 PT that they are "investigating an increase in error rates across Reddit."

We contacted Reddit for more information.
