Musicians plan a 200-person cover music of classic songs to commemorate Final Fantasy 14's 10th anniversary; Rahi joins in.

While the music is certainly the core of Final Fantasy 14, it is also an irreplaceable part of the game's story.

I wept at the hopeful swell of "Dynamis" while playing "Endwalker" and was inspired by the guitar riffs at the roaring climax of "Shadowbringer". Countless light motifs flow through the game's soundscape like blood through the body's veins. But don't take my word for it. More than 200 musicians, organized by YouTube's Husky by the Geek, are performing 10 minutes of the game's greatest hits.

The medley is a journey through each expansion, beginning with the bursting "Primal" theme from "A Realm Reborn" and plunging into "Heavensward" where the powerful chanting is replaced by electric guitar. A love letter to the opening theme of Super Sentai, "Brute Justice" is a triumphant triumph blasted by a man in a full-body morph suit blowing a trumpet.

Vocals appear near the end for the triumphant laps of the endwalker tunes "With Hearts Aligned," "Footfalls," and "Scream." It is a special lesson and love letter to Final Fantasy 14's musical history.

The medley also includes a recreation of lead composer Masakei Soken's infamous performance of "La Hee" at the 2021 Fan Fest. To add to this for those who missed it, Soken took the stage to perform a nightmarishly wonderful, several-minute cover of the Lactica Greatwood theme "Civilizations" (nicknamed "La Hee" for the repeated vocals at the beginning of the song). The ontatone is alive and well, but here it is presented in glorious orchestral style. This time it is even in-tune.

Husky, who distributes a lot of music content dedicated to his favorite games on his youtube channel, wrote on Twitter: "When I started playing music, I always dreamed of performing in community collaborations like this one. I loved arranging these songs and assigning the right parts for everyone"

. [This includes musician Alex Mookala (who organized a similar choir of an astounding 1,000 community members last year), Twitch streamer Shen Pai, drummer The Eight Bit Drummer, community translator and Atai Japan CEO Aitai Kimochi, to name a few.

The video was a testament to the love of the game and the raw excitement of the fan base for "Dawntrail," and it thoroughly knocked my nostalgia for the game with a fully charged limit break. Here's to 10 more years of Bangers.
