After Netflix's The Witcher, Anjay Sapkowski will write his first new book in a decade.

Good news for those who don't watch the Witcher Netflix show starring Hemsworth: author Andrzej Sapkowski has admitted that he is working on a new book in an original series. Whether it will be aimed at Americans and young adults is yet to be determined.

In an interview with fantasy authors on the Ukrainian YouTube channel Fantastic Talks (translated by the Witcher fan site Redanian Intelligence), Sapkowski is "quite enthusiastic" about a new book in the Witcher series. He revealed that he is in the process of writing it and that it "may take a year, but no more than that. As someone who is stoically awaiting the arrival of "The Winds of Winter," I have no idea how to handle such an accelerated period, but I am glad to know that at least one fantasy reader is out there.

In any case, fair enough. It's only been five years since Sapkowski's last "The Witcher" ("Season of Storms") was published in English. For those eager to read more of Sapkowski's Gellert, this is still a pretty long wait, but at least given that The Witcher is now an absolute brand, the next one will be translated into English a little sooner.

While Sapkowski did not give any hints as to what the next book will be about, Redanian Intelligence cleverly refers to an interview the author gave in 2018, where he said that whenever he decided to write a new book, it would be the series' timeline He said it would very likely be a "prequel or sidequel" rather than a continuation of The Lady of the Lake, the last story of The Witcher (except for the game, which Sapkowski does not consider a proper canon).

I haven't watched The Witcher on Netflix since the first episode; I recently started reading the novels because the site PC Gamer dot com gave me the best order to read the Witcher books.
