Get into your favorite games with a 34" curved ultrawide display on sale for $400!

Amazon is celebrating America's birthday by selling a 34-inch Samsung Odyssey G5 curved ultrawide gaming monitor for $400. This monitor normally sells for $550, which is a savings of about $150. While this display is not the cheapest ever, $400 for a curved monitor of this size is a steal.

The Samsung Odyssey G5 boasts a 34-inch curved ultrawide 1440p display with a 165Hz refresh rate and native FreeSync support, which benefits AMD Radeon GPUs and some Nvidia cards. 21 :9 aspect ratio and 3440x1440 resolution, this monitor allows you to immerse yourself in video games or work spreadsheets.

The product's specifications are similar to the ASRock Phantom, a budget ultrawide display that currently costs $340 at Newegg.

It is worth noting that this particular model is not Samsung's advanced mini LED display. However, it still offers a 165Hz refresh rate, a fast 1ms response time, and impressive contrast. These features are ideal for playing immersive sims or enjoying the pilot's experience in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The Amazon listing incorrectly states that the monitor has an IPS panel, when in fact it has a VA panel, as confirmed by Samsung's website. While this discrepancy may cause some confusion among shoppers, in most cases it is unlikely to be a breach of contract.

We previously had this monitor in our office, and the only drawbacks we noticed were its limited viewing angles and lackluster ergonomics. This monitor allows limited tilt, but does not have a swivel function. Furthermore, it is not particularly bright, with a peak brightness of about 250 nits. If you intend to use this display in a brightly lit room, it may not be the best choice. But if you play in total darkness, hey, Samsung has the monitor for you.

We saw this monitor on sale for as low as $370 just a few months ago, so if you're not in a hurry, you can hold out for a better deal. Keep an eye out for it next week, as it will likely return as one of Amazon Prime Day's PC gaming deals.
