Names are missing from the list of "Diablo 4" Hardcore Challenge winners.

In a recent news announcement, Blizzard revealed that 1,000 hopeful names of the 1,000 hardcore characters at the maximum level will be carved in stone if they follow a few rules upon reaching the level cap.

To make the list, players had to survive 100 tough levels of Diablo 4's hardcore mode, where death is final - even if it is not their fault - and post their achievements on Twitter. This included tagging the official Diablo 4 Twitter account, hashtagging, Battle.net tagging, and adding compelling evidence.

Even though there was no time limit, one might expect Blizzard to be quite thorough in confirming the winner, given the grueling nature of this challenge. Unfortunately, in a Reddit thread titled "Did Blizzard Actually Skip Over Me For #Diablo4Hardcore?" quite a few players said they were left in the dust.

User KentuckyFriedAnivia wrote, "Obviously, there will be problems with this [...]. When you are going through thousands of tweets it is easy to go through or miss some," wrote Another puzzled user Hawkwise83 shared a common sentiment in the thread, asking, "Why does Blizzard need proof?"

We don't know for sure what data Blizzard does and does not collect, but the question of why use a truly unstable platform at the best of times for such an exclusive prize, a prize that is sure to lure in a hard core and dedicated fan base arises. Twitch streamer Asmongold also replied to the announcement tweet, claiming that both Team Liquid streamer Rakin and streamer DJMontague missed the golden ticket.

Since one of the conditions was that the Battle.net account be in "good standing," it is quite possible that some players are withholding that they have received previous bans or warnings for other games. Some players also regret that they forgot to tag Diablo 4, which Blizzard announced on Twitter in June.

I am a bit puzzled as to why Blizzard chose to use Twitter, of all places, for such a difficult challenge. In the statue-based FOMO of Diablo 4, a number of streamers went for this goal, died hilariously and tragically, and entertained us all. At the very least, they will be immortalized in stone under that "Daughter of Hate" whose eight hours of sleep they will need.
