Official NBA Game Plagues PC Players Again

2K Games detailed several features of the upcoming "NBA2K24," but the biggest and most disappointing for PC players is that, yes, there will be a version made for the PS4 and Xbox One generation of consoles. 2K did not make this clear but the devil is in the details, as cross-play is a major selling point of this title. However, this new feature will only actually be available for the S/X versions of the PS5 and Xbox series.

This can be seen in the official NBA2K24 FAQ and also in this trailer.

2K CEO Strauss Zelnick personally called all PC gamers and said over the phone, "Screw you!" and not to go so far as to yell at them, but this is as close to a confirmation as the publisher will give. Because 2K has been fooling PC users for years now, and this is the third time they've released a technically inferior NBA title on PC; the first time may have been a mistake, the second time looks careless, but the third time is worthy of contempt.

Only 2K now adheres to this nonsense; EA did the same thing with FIFA for several years and ended up with the excuse that they didn't want to exclude anyone from the PC version; the glory of the PC is obviously that it comes in all shapes and specs and the publishers are trying to maximize their audience by While one would legitimately think that they would try to hit the lowest possible specs in order to maximize, I feel that it would be extremely unreasonable for 2K to withhold the existing shiny version just because they can't be bothered to do the optimization work. I mean, these are official NBA games: they'll sell a few copies.

2K also announced that the cover star for NBA2K24 is the late Kobe Bryant and that there will be various versions available, including a Black Mamba version (Bryant's nickname). The game is scheduled for release on September 8. For PC players, however, NBA2K24 once again feels like a complete airball.
