General
The upcoming "Diablo 4" season may not need a whole new character.

"Diablo 4" requires you to create a new character every season, and everyone imagines a world where that fact is not the case. Why would you customize your character and spend hundreds of hours together in an RPG, only to have to redo it every three months?

After all, Diablo 3 has had an answer to this for years: the Rebirth feature allows you to take over an existing character for a season. This may not sound like much of an improvement, and in fact it isn't, but at least you can continue to play the same character you love and continue to do so every season.

The new character customization options in Diablo 4 will make the Rebirth feature more valuable than in Diablo 3, and according to Adam Fletcher, Director of Global Community Development, people will be adding this feature in the future According to Adam Fletcher, Director of Global Community Development, "the team is aware" that people are hoping for this feature to be added in the future.

"Playback is not yet a D4 feature," Fletcher wrote. At this point, it may be a bit of a stretch to read "not yet" as "definitely coming," but in any case, the fact that they are aware of it is a good sign. There are plenty of new and returning Action RPG players who have never participated in a season before, and Rebirth may reduce some of the confusion.

Currently, the only things that carry over to the Diablo 4 season are campaign completion, discovered areas, and Altars of Lilith progress. Everything else will be reset. So even if your necromancer has a killer look, if you want to recreate it, you'll need to take a screenshot or remember it well. However, at the end of the season, the character will return to the Eternal Realm, i.e., the regular game, and all new items will be carried over, except for the season-specific items.

Diablo 4 Season 1, the Season of Malignity, begins on July 20.
