Lenovo is showing its prowess with this latest generation, and the Legion Pro 7i is the best Prime Day gaming laptop we've seen so far. This is a very powerful RTX 4080-based notebook that is discounted to $2,199 right now at B&H Photo.

This is a $550 discount on what we happily call the best gaming laptop out there right now. And it's not a shabby spec either. It is, of course, powered by Nvidia RTX 4080 graphics silicon, which is itself very powerful, with support for DLSS 3 and more frames per second for games running Frame Generation. It also has a 24-core, 32-thread Intel Core i9 13900HX CPU, 32GB of DDR5 memory, and a 1TB NVMe SSD.

It also has a high-quality 15-inch IPS display with a native resolution of 2560 x 1600 and a refresh rate of 240 Hz; while not a great mini LED screen like those found on the Razer Blade 16 or Asus Zephyrus M16, the machine is more affordable than these RTX 4090 systems.

In my Lenovo Legion Pro 7i review, I noted that this RTX 4080 machine may achieve higher frame rates in many games because the laptop can be limited by a high-performance GPU like the RTX 4090. And even if it does not, it is still very close.

So I was wondering what the point was in an expensive RTX 4090 gaming laptop when even an RTX 4080 could beat it, and I have to say Nvidia didn't like that.

Let's get back to this great Lenovo gaming laptop: at $2,199, it's a bargain for a modern laptop. There are no compromises, except for the possibility of poor battery life. However, any high-performance gaming laptop will not be able to play games for long periods of time away from an electrical outlet.

Lenovo is a decent adult gaming laptop, and at a great price now.
