This AMD 6700 XT graphics card is the cheapest I have ever seen at $299.

Is This the Best Graphics Card on Prime Day?The AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is a bit on the older side. But at only $299 from Amazon, it's probably the best real-world GPU you can buy.

First, thanks to 12GB running on a 192-bit bus, you don't have to worry about VRAM allocation or memory bandwidth. In other words, this card is designed for 1440p gaming. You won't run out of bandwidth or memory when you crank up the details.

As for the hoses, they seem to make a mockery of Nvidia's new 8GB, 128-bit RTX 4060. More importantly, the 6700 XT is faster at straight-up raster rendering than the RTX 4060. And for the exact same price. [The 6700 XT's RDNA 2 architecture is a bit dated; it was not optimal for ray tracing when it was first released over two years ago and has not improved since. Of course, trying to run the latest loaded games with 1440p ray tracing on the RTX 4060 will probably be an even worse experience, thanks to the limitations of GPU performance and the very real risk of running out of VRAM. [Another potential drawback of the 6700 XT is that AMD's FSR scaling technology is not as good as Nvidia's DLSS. This applies to both resolution scaling and the fact that AMD does not yet have the answer to frame generation in DLSS 3

. We do not want to overstate the importance of frame generation. Frame generation does not improve latency (in fact, it improves it a bit). However, when supported (and admittedly frame generation support is relatively limited), it does improve rendering smoothness.

Overall, though, at this $299 price point, it's hard to compete; the 6700 XT is, after all, a proper mid-range GPU with specs to match, and the RTX 4060 is based on Nvidia's smallest, poorest graphics chip, should really be called the RTX 4050.
