Dave the Diver", has already sold 1 million copies in 10 days.

Frankly, I'm scared. It seems like just yesterday I fell asleep in a world where the phrase "Dave the Diver" is nothing more than a meaningless slogan. Perhaps it refers to Dave the Diver, the speaker's fellow diver. Now look at us. The whole world is in a frenzy of Dave mania. The game has received "overwhelmingly positive" user review scores on Steam, and developer Mintrocket has just announced that it has already sold over 1 million copies.

One million units! I don't think I've done anything like a million, and I've been out there a lot longer than Dave the Diver. And yet, the game has sold "over a million copies total" in its first 10 days on the market, has 98,000 concurrent users and 66,000 Twitch viewers in that time, has climbed to #2 worldwide on Steam's top sellers chart, and has taken over the PC Gamer staff Slack!

You guys, I'm not going to lie to you.

I think we have a phenomenon on our hands, folks: Dave the Diver is going to do in 2023 what Vampire Survivors did last year. Its success is well deserved. Combining spearfishing and sushi chefs, the game seems to satisfy a secret hunger that video game players have had for years.

So much so that Chris Livingston, a well-known movie buff, laments that he wants to see more cut scenes.

I predict that Mintrocket will not be satisfied with the film, and that there will probably be more to come from Dave the Diver: on Steam, the developers thanked the more than one million new fans and said, "We are listening carefully to your feedback and will continue to add fun and exciting We will listen carefully to your feedback and continue to add fun and exciting content," they promised. Perhaps a bit vague, but they are probably as surprised as anyone at the game's overnight success.
