As reported by Word of Reel, Craig Mazin, co-writer of the film "Borderlands" and known for "The Last of Us" and "Chernobyl," has dropped his name from the project and will instead be listed under the pen name "Joe Crombie." [Aaron Berg, Oren Uziel, Jewel Taylor, Tony Rettenmeyer, Zach Olkewicz, Chris Bremner, and Sam Levinson] are listed as working on the film, which does not inspire confidence in the project.

This is a new blow for a film that has been spinning its wheels in the mud for some time now. Earlier this year, it was announced that the film would be reshot under the direction of "Deadpool" director Tim Miller after a test screening in 2022 did not go well. The synopsis also did not inspire confidence.

Reshoots are not necessarily an indicator of poor quality: in "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," there were three days of "pick-ups" where small shots were taken to complement existing footage. Several classic films, including "Rocky," "Back to the Future," and "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial," also required reshooting of scenes.
