This 4K 120Hz OLED TV makes most gaming monitors look like a rip-off

Too big. Too slow. Suboptimal input. Simply wrong. So the idea used to be to use a TV as a gaming monitor. But not anymore, the LG C2 Evo 42" is phenomenal and makes a great gaming monitor.

First of all, it runs at 120 Hz, so it is perfect in terms of frame rate and latency. Of course, since it is an OLED panel, the pixel response is much faster than LCD-based PC monitors, including the latest products marketed as "mini-LEDs."

The LG C2 Evo also has HDMI 2.1, so full 120Hz output is possible with the latest graphics cards. And, of course, it's full 4K. Right now, thanks to Prime Day, you can get the LG C2 Evo OLED on Amazon for $796. What a bargain!

This pricing is especially outstanding considering that LG is offering a 27-inch 1440p OLED PC gaming monitor for $999 and a 45-inch ultrawide model for about $1500.

Indeed, these OLED monitor models operate at up to 240 Hz. However, they are unlikely to exceed 240 fps in many modern games. Therefore, depending on the title you play, it often makes no sense to add a refresh. Low latency can also be an advantage for esports addicts who play only online shooters.

However, the rest of us have more varied gaming lifestyles, and 120 Hz is sufficient for those situations. Furthermore, it has all the features of a TV.

One remaining problem is size. 42 inches is a bit large for a desktop. However, this is LG's smallest OLED TV, and it is not ridiculously large.

Compared to Alienware's 34-inch ultrawide OLED panel, it costs about $100 more. But if you appreciate the added scale of this LG and can take advantage of the TV features at the top, this certainly looks like a grand deal.
