Best Gaming Microphones at the Lowest Price Ever on Prime Day

Amazon currently has the Shure MV7 podcast mic on sale for the fantastic price of $199. This is a significant discount from the regular price of $311, making this a great opportunity to get one of the best gaming and podcast mics we've tested in a long time.

The Shure MV7 is an XLR/USB hybrid microphone that can be connected directly to a PC via USB or to an audio interface using an XLR cable. Its versatility is one of its outstanding features, and it produces great vocals.

The ShurePlus Motiv desktop app offers extensive control options, but this mic requires minimal setup right out of the box. My review highlighted its impressive ability to isolate my voice while effectively filtering out background noise from my desktop PC, air conditioning, and other ambient noises.

As a matter of fact, the Shure MV7 is my everyday microphone and my trusty sidekick when hosting This Week in PC Gaming; I connected it to the Focusrite Scarlett 2i3 interface using an XLR cable and the sound quality was outstanding. The black version is oddly priced at only $250, but don't worry, the silver version offers the same excellent performance and, frankly, looks much nicer than the black version.

One important tip is to keep at least 6 inches away from the microphone to avoid noticeable plussives. Otherwise, filters can minimize this problem when speaking up close.

The MV7 does not come with a desk stand, so you will need to invest in a boom arm. I use the Rode PSA1, which costs about $100. It is quiet and has a long reach. However, the microphone should fit most standard boom arms.

If $199 is still over your budget, it's worth noting that there are plenty of other affordable options available during Amazon Prime Day: there are many affordable products under $100 that offer excellent sound quality, but lack quality-of-life features like mute buttons quality-of-life features such as a mute button are missing.
