Gaming laptops and portability do not always go hand in hand. However, if you are willing to compromise a bit on ultimate GPU performance, this sleek 13-inch Asus laptop is worth a look.
Best Buy's Amazon Prime Day Match Sale has the Asus ROG X13 Flow marked down significantly from $1,599 to $849.99. We previously checked out a slower GTX 1650-powered version, but you can see how much we like this little lappy by looking at the ROG X13 Flow.
The main attractions here are portability thanks to the 13-inch form factor, excellent build quality, sleek styling, a great 16:10 screen, and reasonable entry-level gaming performance from the RTX 3050 Ti GPU. In short, this is a premium, high-quality portable PC, now available at a budget laptop price. [The screen is a large 1,920 x 1,200 screen, runs at 120 Hz, is mounted on a 360-degree hinge, and supports touch functionality; on the CPU side, it has an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS 8-core chip that provides all the processing power you need.
The laptop also supports Asus' XG Mobile external graphics box, which can be used if you want to add GPU performance beyond the RTX 3050 Ti, albeit at a considerable additional cost.
In addition, Asus claims a 12-hour battery life, which is much longer than most gaming portable PCs. Even if this is optimistic and the actual battery life is only two-thirds of the claimed time (the gaming battery life would be a small fraction of the rated endurance), it is still capable of much longer uninterrupted operation than most gaming portables.
In any case, the appeal here is not purely gaming. It's that it's a 13" laptop that's perfect for general on-the-go computing, has great styling and build, a nice screen, and can do a fair amount of gaming. At this low price, it's quite a bargain.
