This $720 RX 7900 XT is a fine reason not to buy the RTX 4070 Ti.

General
This $720 RX 7900 XT is a fine reason not to buy the RTX 4070 Ti.

The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT is a good graphics card, but it has been overshadowed by the RX 7900 XTX and RTX 4070 Ti. Nevertheless, if it offers a good enough value for the money, it will once again attract attention. This stunning AMD graphics card deal does a lot to bring this graphics card out of the shadows and into the spotlight.

Walmart has ASRock's RX 7900 XT Phantom Gaming for just $720, a savings of about $90 if you apply Newegg's presale price as-is, or about $179 from AMD's launch day MSRP for this card savings.

This is significantly cheaper than any RTX 4070 Ti I've found so far on this Amazon Prime Day, making this Radeon card worthy of consideration for a high-end gaming PC build in 2023.

One reason you might want to choose the RX 7900 XT over the RTX 4070 Ti is the video memory (VRAM); Radeon cards come with a lot of VRAM, and the RX 7900 XT has a lot of VRAM.

The RX 7900 XT has 20GB of GDDR6, which is quite generous compared to the RTX 4070 Ti's 12GB GDDR6X. Even though GDDR6X is moderately fast at 21Gbps versus the 20Gbps GDDR6 of AMD's cards, these cards do not make up for the lack of capacity with respect to overall memory bandwidth.

Base Memory Bandwidth:

Memory bandwidth is a bit of a hot topic in the gaming world right now, as some games do not play very well with 8GB graphics cards. The higher end cards have 20GB versus 12GB, so it is less of an issue, but if you are gaming at 4K, memory is still very important.

There is no doubt that AMD cards have the advantage when it comes to memory, however, they are missing one valuable feature that is unique to Nvidia. AMD has its own upscaling technology, which is very good, but so far AMD does not have an answer for Nvidia's frame generation technology. There is no indication yet beyond a rough release date.

If you can wait it out, there's a lot to like about the $720 RX 7900 XT, a high-end card that can handle 4K gaming perfectly. As stated in our review of the RX 7900 XT: "With this card installed in your machine, you can safely assume that you are getting the most out of your 4K 60Hz gaming monitor.

If you must stick with Team Green, the next best bargain is this PNY RTX 4070 Ti for $800, maybe a little less if you're lucky.
