Save $150 on LG's fabulous 27" OLED gaming monitors on Prime Day!

OLED technology is quite impressive. But it is also quite expensive. So it is good to see some discounts on Amazon Prime Day this year. We already reported that Dell's 34-inch was reduced to $899. Now LG's 27-inch Ultragear has been reduced to $849 on Amazon.

It's a classic 1440p display running at 240Hz, and when you factor in the ridiculously fast response time of the OLED, you have a recipe for ridiculously speedy gaming, and thanks to the pixel-perfect lighting of the OLED, the HDR visuals are pretty special too! ...

If there's a catch, LG's WOLED technology is somewhat of a liability when it comes to full-screen brightness. In most cases, you won't notice this in-game. However, in brightly lit gaming scenes or on Windows desktops, it can become apparent.

To be honest, we would opt for the Alienware 34". First, we generally prefer the 34-inch ultrawide over the 27-inch 16:9, and Alienware's QD-OLED panel technology works a bit better on PCs than the LG WOLED as well.

And in the context of this kind of display, the extra $50 is fairly insignificant. That said, there are plenty of people who prefer 16:9 to 21:9, and if you fall into that category, you'll like this LG panel.

Another Corsair competitor, the Xeneon 27QHD240, sells for $900; it is a bit more expensive than the LG, but uses the exact same WOLED panel and has very similar performance.

The main areas where Corsair excels are styling and build quality. Physically, it's really quite impressive. It also supports USB-C connectivity.

Anyway, it's great that most of the best OLED monitors are available on Amazon this year. They are still not cheap by any means, but some are quite affordable.
