I don't like the name. I wish we lived in a world where companies would drop the Katana obsession and make laptops with names like Zweihander and Falchion, but in all other respects, this bargain on the MSI Katana 15 gaming laptop is really attractive.
These products normally retail for $1,499, but Newegg has taken $340 off that price, making the Prime Day price much lower than what is currently available on Amazon.
This is quite a bargain: for $1,159, you can get a laptop with an RTX 4070. Still, you can rest assured that you'll get all 144 frames per second possible on the MSI Katana's 15.6-inch screen, thanks to the pixel-crushing power of this graphics card and support for Nvidia's DLSS 3 and Frame Generation technologies.
This product doesn't skimp on RAM or storage capacity, which is a bit unusual for an RTX 40-series laptop and seems to offer a meaningful discount; with 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD, you can store all your games. To be fair, we are rapidly approaching the age when even a terabyte of space starts to feel cramped, but I don't think we're there yet. We shouldn't have to spend a lot of time managing storage just because we want to install something new.
If I had to pick a drawback, it would probably be the CPU; the Intel i7 12650H is last generation technology, which probably matters to someone somewhere. But honestly, I don't really care. If it's more than capable of handling any game and costs a bit less than a machine with a current generation CPU, I'm all for it.
