Prime Day 2TB SSD deals offer tons of storage for pennies on the dollar

I recently purchased my first 1TB SSD. After too long of stubbornly staying underwater, getting rid of games and staying afloat, the fear of bloated install sizes and updates finally got to me and I decided to purchase a large capacity addition. Had I known that a 2TB SSD could be sold so cheaply on Prime Day, I would have held out a little longer.

Right now, you can get my favorite SSD, the WD Black SN850X, for as low as $60. If you're willing to pay a little more, you can get the 2TB version for $90. As hardware guy Dave says, a decent SSD is "an essential upgrade for PC gaming," and the need for SSDs will increase as you play upcoming big games like "Starfield."

With its superior performance and speed, the SN850X is a great choice for those who don't already have an SSD.

If you are looking for something a bit cheaper, the Crucial P3 Plus is also available for $75. It may not be as fast as the above, but storage is still storage, and you don't need to spend as much while getting 2TB. One of the drawbacks we highlighted in our review of the Crucial P3 Plus last year was that it was not priced well enough despite its capacity.

There are some great options for inexpensive high-end SSDs. At 7,300 MB read and 6,900 MB write, it is one of the fastest SSDs in this price range. If you want a long-term investment in performance, you won't regret spending the extra $20 or so over the SN850X.

In any case, there are a lot of great deals on 2TB SSDs this Prime Day, so it's definitely worth getting one if you plan to upgrade and don't want to be surprised when you try to play Starfield later this year. For me, it's already too late. I'll be crying in the corner about the 1TB SSD I bought at list price.
