General
CD Projekt has made another major correction to the grass in The Witcher 3.

March 13, 2023 was a very good day for PC Gamer associate editor Ted Litchfield. Because it was on this day that CD Projekt finally fixed the grass shadow on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. At the time, he definitely believed that the peak of grass quality in video games had been achieved, but CD Projekt somehow made it even better.

The new and even improved grass is provided as part of a new patch for "The Witcher 3" that brings the game to version 4.04. It is a bit unusual for a large patch to be delivered for a game that is eight years old, but in the case of "The Witcher 3," a major next-generation update at the end of 2022 is somewhat special thanks to the Along with new content and various changes and tweaks, it brought a whole new level of visual fidelity to the game.

While the previous patch was aimed at improving the game's performance and stability, this one focuses on minor bug fixes, tweaks, and quality-of-life changes. For example, with ray tracing enabled, some characters' hair appeared to be "too bright" and the GOG achievement seemed to be unlocked in the wrong version, both of these issues have been fixed. Also fixed was an issue where adjusting the camera angle when Geralt was underwater would cause the mountains around Kaer Morhen to disappear: "Grass collision now works correctly.

This patch is actually even bigger news for those playing The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch: a number of new online features, including cross-progression with other platforms, inspired by Netflix's The Witcher new content including side quests (already released on PC), various QoL changes including quickcasting and instant herb looting, and a "curated" version of the Full Combat Rebalance 3 mod.

The full list of "notable changes and additions" is as follows (the patch notes do not include some fixes that CD Projekt felt were too minor to mention):
