Two years after filming ended, Eli Roth's movie "Borderlands" is still more than a year away

Given that filming on the movie "Borderlands" ended in 2021 and we still haven't seen a trailer until 2023, I'd like to think that post-production is not going entirely according to plan.Gearbox President Randy Pitchford announced today that "Borderlands" will be released in 2024 August 9, 2012, and that the film will be released on August 9, 2024.

The "Borderlands" movie is co-written and directed by horror film director Eli Roth, best known for his film "Hostel," Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Edgar Ramirez as Atlas, Kevin Hart as Roland, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina and Jack Black as the terrifying robot man Claptrap.

We recently noted that Ross's original co-writer on the film, Craig Mazin, the screenwriter of HBO's "The Last of Us," has chosen to be credited under a pseudonym; the film could have changed considerably since the 2021 wrap party : The film was reshot this year under the direction of "Deadpool" director Tim Miller.

We have so far seen little of the production other than a silhouette photo of Blanchett as Lilith. (Odd to think that photo was taken shortly before filming of "Tár" began.)

A plot synopsis was also released in 2021, according to which Lilith "reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to search for the missing daughter of Atlas, the most powerful SOB in the universe." To do so, she forms an alliance with Roland, Tiny Tina and her sidekick Kreig (Florian Munteanu), Claptrap, and scientist Tanis (Jamie Lee Curtis).

"To find and protect a missing girl who may hold the key to unimaginable power, these unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits. The fate of the universe is in their hands, but they will be fighting for something more: each other."

Sounds suspiciously wholesome.

I'm not a huge movie buff, but I don't think three years between the end of filming and the premiere of the movie is a good sign, and it's not a good sign when one of the screenwriters leaves his name off the credits. Jack Black has won the hearts of moviegoers around the world with Claptrap, and it may well be the best movie of 2024. At the very least, it will be the best in the "screaming movie" category.'
