Diablo 4's first XP farm is here, and it looks like a special way to suck the fun out of the new open-world action RPG.
Like clockwork, Diablo 4's most impatient players have found dungeons to clear repeatedly for XP. Before you start grinding for levels, a little preparation is in order. If you find it fun to be cooped up in one dungeon for hours at a time, it is technically more efficient than working your way through a campaign.
The dungeon is Anica's Claim, and whoever Anica is, she probably didn't expect it to be the most popular spot in Diablo 4's opening zone, Fractured Peaks.
The interior of the dungeon is laid out in a large circle with unique enemies that must be defeated to complete objectives and open doors to the final boss. These enemies are elites that drop rare items at a high rate and also yield large amounts of XP and gold; the trick to efficiently earning XP, gold, and legendary items is to reset the dungeon before fighting the boss.
The high density of enemies and circular dungeon layout make it easy to rush in and target elite monsters. Also, joining a multiplayer party will not only get you through faster, but you will also gain 10% more XP.
Here are some ways to unlock and farm Anica's Claim for XP:
As a farm for XP and gold, Anica's Claim is useful if you have absolutely nothing else to do. However, the Diablo 4 campaign already has plenty of XP and gold available from dungeons and quests. In order to move to World Tier 3 and get the proper endgame item drops, you have to complete the story anyway. I would only recommend such a farm if you have already completed the campaign and want to jumpstart a new character.
Diablo 4's open world map is littered with dungeons, strongholds, and side quests. There is no need to spend hours inside a dungeon to level up. Dungeons are far better tools to compensate for the difficulties encountered in the course of a normal game.
While playing a review build of this game, I reached a point where I was so far behind the required level for the story quest that I needed to move up a few levels. That was the only time I was able to use a dungeon like Anika claims. Unless looping through a single dungeon seems like fun, I recommend enjoying the first 50 levels of Diablo 4 until the real grind begins.
