A memorial tweet was posted for Puppers, aka Max, a popular Dead by Daylight streamer who passed away this week at age 32 In 2020, Max was diagnosed with ALS, a terminal neurological incurable disease.
The tweet referenced Max's warm call to "stay comfortable" and came from the "Light in the Fog" Dead by Daylight fundraising tournament series that raised $270,000 for his treatment in 2021 and 2022. The event was organized by Sunshine, Eshley, and Silver, three long-distance friends who relocated to take care of Max after his diagnosis.
"Caring for Max as he battled this absolutely horrible disease was the greatest trial and greatest joy of my life," Sunshine told the BBC.
According to the Light in the Mist website, Max first began streaming on Twitch's predecessor Justin.tv in 2011, playing League of Legends and various horror games before discovering Dead by Daylight, which was released in 2016 ...]
"As his channel's audience grew rapidly, Max became known for his Dead by Daylight-inspired cosplay, in-game skits, and his interactive chat experiences," his bio states. Max's Twitch account has over 200,000 followers.
According to a GoFundMe page set up to help Max's family with funeral expenses, Max's health deteriorated rapidly on May 25 when he "suddenly had difficulty breathing," at which point he chose to "forego further intervention to prolong his care."
Funds not used for Max's funeral arrangements and final expenses would be used to help Sunshine, Eshley, and Silver return home, according to the fundraising page.
"Thank you for finding a home in the fog. Your joy and love has made the fog a better place and we are honored to be a cozy place with you," Behaviour Interactive, the developer of Dead by Daylight, wrote on Twitter.
