Blizzard pays Megan Fox to mourn the death of "Diablo 4" in a corset.

Hollywood actor Megan Fox says, "If there's one thing I love, it's watching blood." Wait a minute, what channel is this?

Yes, Blizzard paid big bucks for what is effectively a high-profile cameo. This means that one geek's unremarkable demise in Diablo 4 will be immortalized by a very scantily clad Megan Fox, who will be seen in a very scantily clad Megan Fox. If you think the game has suddenly reverted to 1980s-style marketing techniques, you are mistaken!

In one of Blizzard's ads, Fox explains in unconvincing detail how much she loves blood and viscera. 'Diablo 4 has rivers of blood: ...... Show me your worst in-game death with the hashtag Diablo Deaths.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about this is that dying in Diablo is nothing special; it's not like in Dead Space or Callisto Protocol, where failure is so awful that your poor avatar is visibly torn apart. In Diablo, your avatar just kind of Fall down and get a screen that says "you have died" It happens so fast, I don't even know if I can explain the animation of your death before you become a ghost. Anyway, if there's one word I can't associate with Diablo's Game Over, it's hero.

Yet here we are, in 2023. Interestingly, I looked at Megan Fox's Twitter profile to see if she commented on Diablo's social posts: "5 days on Twitter and still don't know its purpose." #WhatIsThePoint?"

The point is obviously that someone is gasping about what a nice girl Ms. Fox is while getting shanked by the butcher for miscalculating the coming DPS. It will work for some people. I just looked at some of the quoted tweets, but I'll refrain from reprinting them.

Oh well. The real Diablo 4 news is that while microtransactions remain frustrating for a premium-priced title, players have already discovered some very nice things and the game is off to a pretty great start with only minimal server issues. I'll answer this after I pose the question: how huge is Blizzard's marketing budget for Diablo 4?
