Someone at JRPG developer Atlus or publisher Sega is going to have a very bad day. An Instagram post accidentally published on Thursday leaked the existence of "Persona 3 Reload" and "Persona 5 Tactica," the next installments in the popular "Persona" game series. A remake of "Persona 3" has been rumored recently, despite the long-awaited port of the PC version of "Persona 3" in January of this year. According to Atlus, it will be released in "early 2024."
The Instagram post was quickly deleted, but not before it was discovered, ripped up, and spread on social media. Below is a one-minute "Persona 3 Reload" trailer embedded on Twitter.
At first glance, the art style and graphic fidelity of "Persona 3" appears to approach that of "Persona 5"; the UI also shines with a "Persona 5" level of brilliance; and the game's "reloading" interface is "a bit more modern" than "Persona 5.
"Persona 5 Tactica," on the other hand, is a turn-based strategy game starring chibi-style versions of the "Persona 5" cast. Just listed as an upcoming release, it may be sooner than next year's Persona 3 Reload; there may not be a PC version of Fire Emblem, but even PCs can eat up the recent love of tactical games.
The fact that these two trailers happened to be posted on Instagram makes it likely that they were scheduled to be released in the near future. The Xbox icon at the end of each trailer makes it likely that they will be shown at the Xbox showcase on Sunday.
