As part of the PC Gaming Show, in between announcements and reveals, there was a montage of cool games currently in development. For those of you who couldn't pause the feed, we've gathered these trailers in one place, plus a little more about each game.
Atomic Picnic on Steam
Atomic Picnic is a shooter version of Vampire Survivors, where you and three of your closest friends go out and survive against hordes of enemies and fight big bosses. As you might expect, the game is packed with roguelike elements, including a wide variety of weapons, upgrades available by rarity, and a store between rounds where you can permanently upgrade your character. It's still in pre-alpha, but there is a playable demo on Steam that is very interesting. Keep your eyes peeled for more.
Gaucho and the Grassland
Gaucho and the Grassland by Brazilian developer Epopeia Games is a farming sim and exploration game set in the Pampas region of South America. In addition to the usual crafting and harvesting, players can explore the mystical imaginings of the region's folklore and spend time herding cattle, a less explored aspect of farming. After all, who doesn't like to jump on a horse, put on a sweet hat, and lasso a cow?
Jorel's Brother on Steam
The point-and-click adventure game also has you searching for grog to melt the bars of a pirate's prison. It also involves siphoning gas from a UFO; in Jorel's Brother and the Most Important Game of the Galaxy, you're making avocado lattes with Grandma in between saving the world from aliens. Jorel's Brother is an original Cartoon Network Brazilian animated feature, and this point-and-click adventure (the first chapter opens June 15, with two more chapters coming in August and October) offers the same droll slapstick and jealous brother antics found there.
Steam
Steam version of Mallet Mad Jack Stabbing a bowie knife into an android's skull has never been more neon, and Mullet Madjack takes the ultra-violent style of 90s VHS cartoons and mashes it up with a modern-day Boomer shooter, sprinkled with rogue light aioli. With its synthwave soundtrack, bright pink mullets, and "rad racer"-esque chase scenes, it's like a tribute to Duke (Nukem, not Wayne).
Nova Lands on Steam
Nova Lands is a cozy little package that combines island management and factory automation. In this game, you explore procedurally generated islands, gather resources, and build bases to find new sources of energy. Your main assistants on this journey (aside from your trusty dog, which we've confirmed can be made into a pet) are bots. Whether collecting ore, fighting monsters, or helping with logistics, these little bots automate the tedious tasks so you can focus on exploring and fighting. You'll have to battle island bosses, but you can also resolve them peacefully; a demo is available on Steam, and the full game will be available later this month.
"Revival: Recolonization" on Steam
Besides the obvious uses, such as passing the bar exam or getting high school students to submit laughably bad essays, the AI also has more niche uses, such as completely destroying the earth. In "Revival: Recolonization," the AI does just that, and it's our job to rebuild... In this 4x strategy game, you're an emissary, awakening from cryo-sleep and preparing to battle zombie hordes and ruthless robots over coffee, Advance your technology and use your edits to terraform the earth to your liking. But beware of the All Mind and its propensity to set the whole world on fire with its own edibles. Again.
