The first major patch has been applied to Redfall, but who cares?

More than a month after the launch of the flop, the first major patch for "Redfall" has been released. The update brings a variety of changes and bug fixes, and the developers say more are on the way, but one of the most anticipated fixes, a 60 fps "performance mode" for console players, has yet to be implemented.

"We are grateful that millions of you have explored the quaint but dangerous open world of Redfall," Arkane said.

"Building such a large playspace has been humbling, to say the least. We recognize there is still work to be done, and we intend to tackle as much as we can, as quickly as we can.

"Today's release is only the first patch and introduces a number of incremental fixes to improve 'Redfall'. As soon as it becomes available, we will provide more information about future updates, including 60FPS performance mode, on our official social channel @PlayRedfall."

A meaty patch to be sure, but unfortunately for Arkane, there are few people left who will notice, much less care: according to Steam Charts, only 42 people are currently playing "Redfall" and today's peak simultaneous While this does not tell the whole story, as "Redfall" is a multi-platform game, it is still a very bad situation, especially for a game that was positioned as a major title released by a major, reputable game studio. ...

Some comments on the patch have expressed hope that it represents progress toward a better future, but in general, not many are optimistic about a turnaround.

"I was really looking forward to it. But let's be realistic," one Steam user wrote.

"If this patch, or at least some form of communication, had been done in the first week of release, it would have been received much more positively. Currently, we have barely 100 players a day. It's a bitter disappointment."

"As much as I'm concerned about the PR terms (which speak to us as if it's not common knowledge anymore that "Redfall" was only created as a live service lure for potential Zenimax buyers, and ignore the fact that the game's reputation has been devastating across the board) Another said, "I think it's a good thing that there are still people left at Arkane who are patching this game to make it at least a viable product." Let's see how long they continue to put money into this fix."

I guess we have to start somewhere. The full patch notes are as follows.
