Ubisoft has announced Star Wars: Outlaws, and from the Star Wars geeks on the PCG team, it looks pretty impressive. The game is the original story of smuggler Kay Vess, set between "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," and the developers are ramping up the Han Solo schtick. But as is almost always the case in recent series, the star of the scene was Vess's adorable little companion called Nix.

Lord knows what Nix is. The gizmo-like, dog-eyed thing with various hairs seems to be good at stealing things and, according to the trailer, is Ves' regular companion who has numerous uses in the game. Clearly going to be an important part of Outlaws, Ubisoft broke the news in a press release that Dee Bradley Baker, one of the most prolific voice actors in the world and the voice of more Star Wars characters than anyone else (see (Thanks, GamesRadar+).

Star Wars fans will recognize Baker from "Clone Wars," in which he voiced all the clone troopers, and the spin-off series "Bad Batch." We can't stress enough how many characters he has played in "Clone Wars" alone. In "Star Wars Resistance," he plays 11 characters.

The game? Baker appears in Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. He has also appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and sequels, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Star Wars: The Old Republic Star Wars: The Old Republic, Kinect Star Wars, Boba Fett in Disney's Infinity, Star Wars Battlefront and sequels, and even a character in Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order. If you have, you've almost certainly heard his voice.

But interestingly, you can't hear it here. Well, not Baker's speaking voice, anyway. Nix, the strange little alien dog, doesn't speak, but makes various animal noises, which turns out to be another streak in Baker's career: he regularly plays animal-based VO roles, perhaps the most famous being Perry the Platypus in Phineas and Ferb.

According to the same press release, Humberly González will play the main character Kay Vess in "Outlaw." González is a Venezuelan-born Canadian actor who has appeared in television shows and has played various roles in video games, including Mercedes 'Honlon' Martín in Far Cry 6. [When we first imagined an open-world 'Star Wars' game, we explored where and when it would take place," said Julian Gelaiti, creative director at Massive Entertainment. These outlaws live under the rule of the Galactic Empire, but can still thrive if the criminal underworld gives those who seek to take advantage of the chaos a chance." The time is ripe for a new outlaw to make a name for himself, and Kay Vess is written in the stars."
