Starfield's ship has a literal "rage quit" button.

What was heartening about Bethesda's Starfield Direct was the evidence that there is still time for a little whimsy and tomfoolery in this giant space epic, like one developer's personal quest to steal a bunch of space sandwiches. On Subreddit, the sharp-eyed ninjasaid13 spotted a clever Easter egg in the ship's cockpit.

The presentation gave a good look at Starfield's customizable ship, with a close-up of one of the cockpit control panels around the 30-minute mark. Switches and buttons for everything one might expect, from life support to ship umbilicals, are visible, but alongside them is something more unexpected. It's the end-of-rage button.

It seems the designers of future ships are also gamers. We don't know what this button does, or whether it is merely decorative or practical, but perhaps it is a self-destruct button. But it is probably a self-destruct button. If you are in the ship, of course you will be blown to pieces. But you can leave the ship not only when you are on the planet, but also when you board another ship. So it is not necessarily a game over screen.

I also noticed the RNG buttons, which have a less obvious purpose. These may be fun little Easter eggs that don't really do anything, but I'm still a big fan of these little details.

Starfield Direct clearly made a good impression, and Starfield jumped to #2 on Steam's global bestseller list shortly after. However, it is also worth noting that this list is based on revenue, and with the exception of Cyberpunk 2077, the games above this list have already launched and generated revenue through microtransactions.
