Kunitsugami Trailer Revealed Again at Capcom Showcase: The trailer for "The Way of the Goddess" was re-released at Capcom's showcase, but only with the addition of a voiceover describing the game as "a beautiful yet disturbingly mysterious world," without revealing any details about the game itself.

This has left diehard fans of Japanese action-adventure games wondering what inspired this new IP. First, the most likely source of its DNA is Capcom's "Onimusha. Originally intended to be a Sengoku-inspired take on "Resident Evil," "Onimusha" has become a highly regarded action series in its own right; other than a remaster of the first "Onimusha" game in 2018, no new titles have been released for some time, leaving the fan base hungry for more.

Another source of inspiration may be Okami, another action game published by Capcom, Path of the Goddess, with its saturated colors of red and purple that emphasize a strange and fantastic atmosphere. Similarly, "Okami" was praised for its ink-ink, cel-shaded style.

The two titles also share some similarities in plot. In the trailer, before the main character appears, a gnarled hand can be seen entering the landscape and painting it with a darkness that corrupts everything. The "Great God" also begins with a similar ship, as the reincarnation of a sun goddess summoned to purify the world from a similar evil.

One of the more surprising candidates fans have mentioned outside of Capcom's publishing history is From Software's Xbox game "Otogi," released in 2002, in which Raiko Minamoto attempts to purify a land overrun by demons in "Otogi Onishinron," an The game is an action-adventure game in which Raikou Minamoto tries to purify a land overrun by demons. While it is obvious from some of the gameplay that there are similarities in palette and style, "Otogi" maintains From Software's usual heavy pastiche.

While it's fun to speculate, it's impossible to know which mantle this demon-infested game has inherited until you actually play it. As a person who has missed out on the era of the game this film is resurrecting, I would love to know. The exact release date is yet to be determined, but we do know that it will appear on Steam and Game Pass on day one.
