New "Valheim" Update Adds World Modifier, Creative Mode, and Finally Seeing Your Hair in a Helmet

The latest update to Valheim is now available on the public test server. It adds new NPCs that give quests, new locations, new hair and beard styles (very important in a Viking game), and better looking manual snaps when building.

The new world modifier will not only allow players to change the difficulty level, but will also add a creative mode called Hammer Mode, which should produce some spectacular creations. The modifiers are as follows:

A video posted by Jonathan Smårs of Iron Gate shows the various elements that have been added and ends with the player staring at an ominous tower in the distance. This is one of three new dungeons added in this update, two in the classic Valheim style and one in the open style. Others include three new mini-bosses, tons of fireworks (and sparkler items!) ), new clothes, new materials and furniture, and new music.

There are also a number of fixes and improvements, including the ability to see hair and beards when avatars wear helmets. The game's fire effects have been completely overhauled, minor leveling bugs have been resolved, and cave water is "no longer affected by wind."

Also, for some reason, you can now take damage in god mode. And most eerily of all, a new console command now allows you to generate as many tombstones as you want. [Jonathan Smårs previously revealed that the world modifier can be changed at any point in the game, so you can be creative and build a huge fort, then switch to hardcore to fight off the oncoming hordes. It can also be applied to existing worlds. The new creative mode will probably produce the most eye-catching results here, and it fits the game beautifully. Players are eager for something like this, and before this there were even cheats to do it.
