Fallout 76 seems to be chasing the "New Vegas" vibe with its next big add-on.

In a teaser at the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, Bethesda revealed that Fallout 76's next Expedition will take vault dwellers on a vacation to the Atlantic City boardwalk. As part of a commemorative video celebrating the 15 millionth player of Fallout 76, Bethesda showed off just a small portion of what's in store for Atlantic City.

Atlantic City is limited to the Expedition game mode, a series of PvE missions in which squads of four venture outside of ruined Appalachia. Screenshots released by Bethesda preview a dilapidated boardwalk and a bustling casino floor, but given that Atlantic City is limited to the Expedition mode, it does not appear to feature a casino or card game like Fallout New Vegas.

Atlantic City seems content to play a dual role as the runner-up gambling destination in post-apocalyptic America, and is truly "New Vegas at home." Both this and Season 13's Hollywood Golden Age aesthetic seem to be in search of classic West Coast nostalgia. Also, looking at the pan shots of the casino in the trailer, I couldn't help but notice that the gamblers are still using the "sitting at a slot machine with your hands folded in your lap" animation of 13 years ago. Like war, some things never change.

No release date has been set for Atlantic City, just a general "coming soon." The first expedition, "Steel Reign," was released shortly after its announcement in summer 2021, while "The Pitt" was not released until September 2022.

Season 13 will also kick off with "Once in a Blue Moon," a werewolf-themed public event. Presumably, you will be asked to slay these noble creatures and receive their skin as a reward to adorn your in-game avatar.

It's good to see support for Fallout 76 continuing even as Bethesda is counting down the days for Starfield to take off; Fallout 76 is still playable on PC Game Pass, for those interested.
