Two years after Rockstar games co-founder Dan Hauser filed for the UK trademark for "Absurd Ventures in Games," the company has filed a trademark application for "Storytelling: Charity. Ultraviolence." It now comes with a promotional reel that sells vibrators instead of merchandise and promises to "defile the mind and harm the soul in every medium imaginable."
Absurd Ventures "builds story worlds and creates characters in a variety of genres, regardless of medium, produced for live action, animation, video games and other interactive content, books, graphic novels, and scripted podcasts, story writing," the company says.
Clicking on the site reveals eyes following the mouse cursor and background computer code deciphered into an ominous message, but no specific mention of future projects or initiatives.
There has been two years of silence since the Absurd Ventures trademark was first registered with the LLC. Perhaps Absurd Ventures is continuing the Rockstar tradition of remaining tight-lipped about future releases. [So far, nothing but the aforementioned sizzle reel and hacker eyeballs, but the cynical energy is very much in keeping with Rockstar's edgy vibe. It will be interesting to see what this "narrative world" will look like, especially with such a big name behind it.
