The Callisto Protocol's concluding story DLC is finally here: the "tantalizing final chapter" of Striking Distance Studios' Dead Space-like horror game, titled Final Transmission, promises to "delve deeper into The Callisto Protocol's terrifying secrets in greater depth," promises to.

Not much in the way of what players can expect from the DLC, but that's all we know at this point. So far, The Callisto Protocol's Steam page just says "Story Protocol," and Striking Distance has said nothing more on social media.

It's great that The Callisto Protocol will have a proper ending, but more importantly, it's an update that has been rolling out since its launch in December 2022. The game may have been a little too focused on the survival horror formula, but we enjoyed playing it. This was fixed in fairly short order, but while user reviews on Steam have picked up, the overall rating remains "mixed."

The Callisto Protocol also failed to meet Krafton's sales expectations, which were terribly optimistic: as we noted at the time, the original "Dead Space" was popular and well-liked, but by all accounts not a huge hit, certainly not enough to warrant millions of sales for a "spiritual successor" game that has nothing to do with the "Dead Space" series.

"Final Transmission" is not the first new content release for "The Callisto Protocol"; several DLC bundles with new cosmetics and game modes have been released previously, but it is the first and last complete The PlayStation® version will be released on June 27, while the other platform versions will be released on June 29.
