Newegg is selling its 2023 favorite budget laptop, the Gigabyte G5, for $1,000. Even though this is $100 off the regular price, this configuration is the lowest price since its launch.

The Gigabyte G5 KF is a 16" budget gaming laptop with Intel Core i5 12500H and RTX 4060. It is capable of 1080p performance with sufficient frame rates. And that's without turning on DLSS 3 for supported games.

8GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512TB NVMe SSD won't set the world on fire, but these limitations are nothing that a little upgrade down the road can't solve. There are daily deals to get decent SSDs and RAM for cheap.

In our review of the Gigabyte G5, we evaluated its gaming performance at 1080p and ease of upgrading. The only difference between this model and our review is that the sample we were sent had 16GB of RAM. Other than that, the specs are identical.

The Gigabyte G5 GF is also a good choice for those looking for a gaming laptop with a more subdued design that is not quite what we would call a gaming laptop. It has backlit keys, but no RGB on the lid or in the 4.39-pound chassis.

We noted in our review that they can be quite loud during gaming. It may be wise to invest in a gaming headset or move to another room so as not to disturb roommates who are watching TV.

You may be tempted to buy the RTX 3060 version of this laptop for $63 less, but the RTX 4060 version is a more powerful and efficient GPU and you should buy that one. Additionally, you cannot use DLSS 3 on the RTX 30 series cards, which is what we like most about the RTX 40 series. The Gigabyte G5 was already one of this generation's best affordable laptops with its aggressive $1,100 price tag; at $1,000, this 15.6-inch RTX 4060-powered gaming laptop is a very strong Gigabyte's addition of the RTX 4060 to the old notebook's specs works well, especially at this price.
