Final Fantasy 16" PC version is next in line for Yoshi P.'s job.

The long mystery of when the PC version of Final Fantasy 16 will be ready for play continues. No release date has been set yet, but producer Naoki "Yoshi P" Yoshida said that the PC version is still in development and that we will hear more about it when it is closer to completion.

In a recent stream, Yoshida said that the PC version still needs work to make it as good as the PlayStation 5 version, especially the lack of loading screens when moving between locations and transitioning from cutscenes to gameplay. According to Yoshida, the team was so busy developing the PS5 version that they "didn't have time to optimize the PC version."

"We will tell you more about the PC version when the time is right, so please look forward to it," he repeated, a phrase he often utters when discussing upcoming features of Final Fantasy 14, the other Final Fantasy he is responsible for.

The PC version of Final Fantasy 16 has been in flux since it was announced with a trailer that stated the PC version would launch in 2020. Square Enix never said a word about it after that, and earlier this year Yoshida briefly denied its existence. Only a month later, he said on the Japanese PlayStation Blog that a PC version would be released sometime after the PS5's six-month exclusivity deal expired. The producer said, "Even if we start optimizing the PC version after the PS5 version is released, it will not be in the short span of six months because we cannot optimize it in six months."

PC players, be strong. We must continue to wait for what reviewers are saying is an excellent, action-packed entry in the long-lived RPG series, and it's a good thing there are no other games out there that will blunt our resolve at the launch of Final Fantasy for PC.
