Anime Tokyo (opens in new tab) is an art project by Yan Ru in Unreal Engine 5 that lets you walk around Tokyo in animated 3D. At the moment, it includes several city blocks in Shibuya around the 109 department store area, and in this reality, there are Project Anime Tokyo posters rather than advertisements for the latest iPhones and other devices, but more areas may be added in the next version of the demo in "a few months" More areas may be added in the next version of the demo "in a few months".
As the name implies, this is a city recreated in anime. Your avatar is a girl with purple hair, and depending on which of the three filters you choose, the buildings may be lit up in cherry pink (sunny and cloudy filters are also available, with rain and snow promised in a future update). . There are few pedestrians or cars around the Shibuya scramble, making it a relatively underpopulated virtual Tokyo.
In some ways, it feels more realistic than "Ghostwire": Shibuya, Tokyo. Even ignoring the undead-filled streets, "Ghostwire" imagined a tourist campaign Tokyo where almost every store sold Japanese products and no one drank Coke when they could have a refreshing cup of green tea. Anime Tokyo has branches of Starbucks and Adidas, and advertisements for brands like LUSH and Nike.
Trying to get off at Shibuya station or going too far down the street in Shibuya, I would run into a banner that read "AREA CLOSED". I would shortcut through the dark lanes, climb on top of a sports car like the one in "Saints Row," and pay my respects to the bronze statue of Hachiko, the loyal dog who waited at the station every day to meet his master after work and continued to wait nine years after his master's death.
The P button toggles photo mode, the Shift button for running, and the space bar for jumping.
