System Requirements for "Dead Island 2" Revealed

With 10 days left until the open-world zombie brawler Dead Island 2 (opens in new tab) goes live, Deep Silver has released detailed system requirements and a technical FAQ (opens in new tab) that digs a little deeper into what players can expect.

Let's start with the numbers:

Dead Island 2 will support AMD's FSR2 and FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening, but the FAQ makes the odd claim that "performance-enhancing software is not supported." included. Deep Silver did not specify what exactly that means, but best guess is that it refers to Nvidia's DLSS; it doesn't make much sense to call only Nvidia's upscaling technology "performance enhancing software" when AMD's FSR is nearly identical I'm not sure what the point of this is, but I'm not sure what the point is. Anyway, the conclusion here seems to be that there is no support for DLSS. Too bad.

There is a "streamer mode" that blocks licensed music (the music in the opening cinematic is not blocked, so be careful about that), and there is a 3-player co-op mode, but cross-play is not supported.

While some Dead Island fans on Twitter may find the listed specs a bit high, we are more concerned with the game itself, which has struggled through a decade of awkward development (open in new tab). Senior Editor Robin Valentine, after experiencing the first third of the game in March, said it was "uninspired and quickly boring." While this is far from a complete review, it is not an auspicious start.

After years of waiting, "Dead Island 2" will finally be released on April 21, with the PC version available on the Epic Games Store (open in new tab).
