Diablo 4" resec fees will not be changed before launch.

Blizzard says Diablo 4's Respec cost, which launches in June, will work the same way it did in the recent beta.

The amount of gold required to move skill points is "final," associate game director Joseph Piepiora told GamesRadar in a group interview (opens in new tab).

After the recent beta and endgame videos, players are concerned about the price of reimbursement for skill points and paragon points (after level 50). As you level up, those prices go up, and as the game heads toward the level 100 cap, it could become a real hassle to change builds.

According to Piepiora, more gold is earned as one approaches the level cap, and this fee plays "an important role in asking players to start hardening their builds a bit once they reach that part of the gameplay."

Speaking to IGN (opens in new tab) last year, Diablo 4 general manager Rod Fergusson said that the cost of Respec would eventually become so high that it might be better to create an entirely new character. Last month, however, Fergusson wrote on twitter that it would not be "prohibitively expensive (open in new tab)."

Fergusson's comment sounds a bit contradictory, but it is true that this was five months ago, and it is unclear to what extent he means that it will not be expensive. He may be referring to the fact that when you pick up a legend item that changes your build, you will no longer be able to move points multiple times a day instead of once or twice a month.

Diablo 4's endgame promises quite a challenge with nightmare dungeons, PvP, daily quests, etc. The free respecs will probably make players switch from activity to activity, but if it gets really too expensive, it will also kill some of the creativity that was seen in the beta, like puzzling out fun builds (opens in new tab). I suggest heading to the Diablo 4 build planner (opens in new tab) and deciding what direction you want to take your build so you don't go broke.

Diablo 4 will be released on June 6.
