Spanish luxury brand Loewe has released a block of clothing as part of its Pixel Capsule collection. (Opens in new tab) It first hit the runway at Paris Fashion Week last year, and as The Verge (opens in new tab) reported, you can now get the whole fit for the low, low price of $14,070. Ouch! The Pixel t-shirt and pants alone are much cheaper, at $4,350. Perfectly reasonable, I'd say.
While by no means everyday wear, there's no denying that I find Loewe's Minecraft-esque collection oddly appealing. The white T-shirts and blue hoodies, in particular, are quite startling to look at, with their pixelated shoulder construction almost unrealistic in the product photos. Viewing the merchandise from the side or getting a little too close to it breaks the illusion somewhat, but it is still an impressive creation. The denim selection also has an oddly nostalgic old-school video game console feel to it. As befits a pixel collection, purchases come in a limited edition blocky bag.
This collection feels a little more like art than everyday wear. Who would actually pay $1,000 for a white shirt with the Fortnite logo on it (opens in new tab)?
