'Looks like a shirt someone made on an inkjet printer in 2006': fans hate Konami's new Silent Hill 2 outfit (but they're wrong)

Konami has teamed up with Online Ceramics to release a line of Silent Hill 2-themed merchandise: t-shirts, hoodies, pants, and more, all of which look like they were designed by someone with Google Images, Microsoft Paint, and not a shred of aesthetic sense.

They're kinda awesome.

Of course, this is my opinion, and the world seems to almost unanimously disagree with me, but this kind of "made in one afternoon left alone in the school computer room" style is truly the trademark of online ceramics, and is the 90's equivalent of the Silent Hill 2 I think it matches the haunted house vibe perfectly. I don't have the courage to wear something as aggressively Dernier Kris as this hoodie, emblazoned with a photo of Maria in a fog and the unconnected words "You don't look like a ghost, do you?" but if I met someone wearing it, I'd literally do whatever they said.

Unfortunately, however, the Silent Hill 2 fandom does not share my enthusiasm. The responses to Konami's announcement tweet have all been "mocking" and most of them believe that the collaboration is a new indictment of Konami's treatment of the Silent Hill series. On Twitter, roy_oddities (opens in new tab) responded, "Silent Hill deserves better."

Another user, allenr85, suggested instead of Online Ceramics "throwing trash on a t-shirt and selling it for $300," and even offered samples of what they could make.

On the Silent Hill subreddit, SirPhobos1 (opens in a new tab) was the top-battering response to the announcement of this collaboration. In particular, it has the name of an online ceramic; it looks like a shirt someone made with an inkjet printer in 2006.

"If you like this," they concluded, "you must have a serious case of denialism. That is their conclusion.

The amount I personally spend on clothes ($60 for a T-shirt!) ) is much higher than what I spend on clothing, but that is probably more of a criticism of fashion in general than of Konami or online ceramics in particular. If, like me, you are brave enough to recognize that this is good stuff, you can see the entire collection on the Online Ceramics website (opens in new tab). And if you'd like to feast your eyes on some more bizarre clothing, here are a few of my favorites: [15
