Players who were excited to finally experience "The Last of Us" on PC in 2013 were less excited by the fact that they had to experience what the 2013 PC port of the game was like in order to do so ("Enslaved: Odyssey to the West"). (Naughty Dog's efforts have made some improvements, however, fixing camera jitters when using the mouse and unexpected moistness of characters in cutscenes.
The latest patch updates The Last of Us Part 1 to v1.0.3.0, adding audio compatibility options to help those who hear cutscene music or dialogue too quiet or "pops, clicks, or distorted sounds," and reassigning arrow keys, various issues have been addressed.
This is a bigger deal than one might imagine for an avid WASD user like myself, but the humble arrow keys are still a popular choice, especially among left-handed players; in The Last of Us Part 1, the cursor movement keys were chosen as the primary method of joel control option, but still maintained the previous function of inventory selection. In other words, each time you pressed a key to move, the pesky item selection menu would also cycle through.
This has finally been fixed, as has the "in-game texture quality appears lower than the target quality setting" issue. The shader compilation progress tracker has also been updated to "track progress more evenly. Also, quick turns while grappling no longer seem to cause the enemy to T-pause.
The full patch notes (open in new tab) contain many more changes, but they focus more on crashes and graphical bugs than performance improvements. With any luck, they will be provided in a future patch, and more PC players will finally be able to experience the true majesty of The Last of Us, with its clunky combat and storyline that Telltale's The Walking Dead did better in 2012.
